Thank you, everyone, for your prayers and support. It is truly a joy to know that I have my brothers and sisters in Christ praying for me as I serve the Lord here in Honduras. This year has been a busy yet rewarding one. So far, we have had nine groups come to help MEDA and the surrounding churches associated with MEDA. As the heavy part of the year comes to a close, I can definitely see how the Lord has used me to help take some of the burdens of managing the groups of the professors. This has enabled the seminary professors to dedicate more of their time to the important work of teaching and ministering through the seminary.
This year with the help of groups we have accomplished the following:
Renovated our office
Put one desk in every dorm room and build the second deck for each room
Build shelving for our storage room.
Changed out the old mosquito mesh on the widows of the dorm rooms
Housed a dental and eye doctor clinic that saw over 900 patients in one week
Changed out all our mattresses for new ones
In addition to the above, some of the groups worked off-campus in local churches of alumni by running evangelistic outreach ministries or completing projects such as redoing the roof of a church or building a playground for the church.
One of the blessings I have is to see the projects the groups have completed in just one week! The greatest blessing is seeing the fruit the groups are investing into–our seminary students. It costs around $6,400 to train one pastor for one year. Each student has to pay 4% of that and sometimes that is a struggle. MEDA pays the other 96% primarily through donations. A small portion of what it costs for the groups to use our rooms while they are here goes to the training of the seminary students. As a result of our groups staying here, their churches and other participants have given MEDA special donations of over $25,000.
With this summer “of groups” coming to an end, I have really seen how the Lord is using me to play a small part in carrying out the Great Commission. As our professors train the seminary students, they will go back to their home towns or countries to proclaim the Gospel. As the groups came in and served, it also provided a small way to fund the Seminary of Expository Preaching (SEPE) at MEDA.
If the Lord puts it on your heart to support me it would be greatly appreciated!
