January-March 2021

April 12, 2021

The first three months of this year have been completely different from other times here in Honduras. During these times of change, I am once again reminded that God is sovereign, and his plans will work out to bring Him glory. I want to share with you some of the blessings and challenges the Lord has allowed during these first three months of 2021:

First, I do want to take time to thank the Lord for His protection. Last year during the spread of Covid 19, God protected me and the others here at MEDA from getting the virus, and those who did get it have recovered without lasting effects.

Second, I want to thank God for His provision. I thank the Lord for those of you who have faithfully supported me even through the time of the pandemic. Last year I was not able to complete what I had planned, and this year has started slowly; nevertheless, I am happy to say that, despite some restrictions, we plan on having some groups with us this summer, in fact, our first intern of this year arrived in February. God, in His provision, has placed many around me who have encouraged me, prayed for me, and instructed me. Thanks to my family, my roommates, my pastors, and supporters for your help and encouragement!

Third, I want to thank God for the progress we have seen in the seminary.  This year we have seen the largest number of students we have ever had in the seminary (you will remember that I said this last year). The Lord has exponentially blessed MEDA! Due to the virus, not all the students are able to be on campus at the same time. One class in each module can attend classes here at MEDA. For me personally, it was a like a big family reunion when the pastors in the seminary returned.  After a year of not being with the pastors, it will once again be a joy to fellowship with and to serve them.

The international programs are slowly getting back to normal.  The next three months will be very busy as we get ready for our first groups to arrive. Because we are living in a different world with Covid 19, managing the groups provides new challenges. Please pray for me as I work through these new sets of challenges!

Fourth, I thank God for His presence in times of difficulty.  I want to share with you a situation my roommate faced when he returned to his home country. My roommate returned home as his father is in poor health.  Shortly after he returned home, his uncle (his dad’s brother) tested positive for Covid.  Two people who were in contact with him were my roommate and his father. Soon both started showing signs of the virus.  His uncle fought the virus, but around two weeks after getting Covid, he went to be with the Lord.  I would call my roommate to get up-dates on his and his father’s progress in fighting this terrible virus.  My roommate relied on the Lord during this difficult time.  Soon prayers were answered, and in God’s sovereignty, my roommate and his father recovered from Covid.  My roommate is now back in Honduras studying to be a pastor.

Watching my roommate go through this crisis in his life taught me how important it is to focus on Christ and His Word while in times of difficulty. As we stand on God’s word, He gives us the wisdom to stand firm in Him.  My roommate and the other men here at MEDA have a deep desire to serve the Lord and His people.  Please pray for the students and pray for my roommate as he returns to his studies.  I am thankful for lessons my roommate taught me of leaning on the Lord and seeking His wisdom during difficulties.

Prayer request: Please pray for me that God will give me wisdom as I manage the groups and interns and navigate the Covid Restrictions here in Honduras and in the US.
